Remy Arnot, DO
Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine

Where are you from?

Missoula, Montana

What are your personal interests/hobbies?

Mountian biking (shredding uphill). Skiing. Slack lining. River surfing. Rock climbing. Playing guitar. Running with my dog Jax.

What are your professional interests?

Freaking love the power of ultrasound. I want to become a master! The amount of information at our fingertips is incredible and I want to be able to tap into that for my patients. Same with OMT actually. Providing instant relief to patients is pretty darn empowering.

Why did you choose UA EM?

Genuine friendship is a great treasure. My away rotation with UA brought me into this enclave of people I look up to who were ACTUALLY happy, ACTUALLY friends and seemed rad. Nothing about it seemed staged, exaggerated or burnt out. I saw role models and mentors who were excited about my academic and personal interests. Simply, the supportive environment from administrative to personal, the vast academic opportunity and location made me choose UA EM. Proud to be a Wildcat.

Favorite activity in Tucson, or what attracted you to Tucson besides the residency program?

Culture, food, sunsets! Music! Art! Sunshine!

What are your non-medical goals during residency?

Enjoy off time with my Australian Shepherd, Jax. Find some adventures on Mount Lemmon. Encounter some caves?! Go canyoneering?!

Why did you choose UA EM?

One thing that stuck out about UA is the friendships the residents seemed to have with one another. It felt that they genuinely enjoyed each other and had the work-life balance to spend time with one another.

Favorite activity in Tucson, or what attracted you to Tucson besides the residency program?

I went to a small military college, so being in a big university town seemed like a lot of fun!

What are your non-medical goals during residency?

My church back home used to always say that they wanted to be so involved in the community that the community would feel it if they left. My wife and I hope to carry this intentionality to our relationships and community in Tucson.

David Frank, DO
Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, Pomona Campus

Where are you from?

Folsom, CA

What are your personal interests/hobbies?

I love to hike and be outdoors. Exercising and living a healthy lifestyle are very important to me. Some casual hobbies are guitar, piano, disc golf, rock climbing, and video games.

What are your professional interests?

I love to teach, so I hope to one day teach medical students/residents as a preceptor in the hospital setting. I have interests in pursuing a fellowship in ultrasound or EMS (to be determined).

Why did you choose UA EM?

I was looking for certain aspects in a residency program and UA Tucson hit them all. For example, I wanted to train at a program with rotations in multiple settings like University and Community, longitudinal pediatric exposure, and a close-knit family feel. The residents I had spoken with were very confident from their training, and had nothing but positive things to say about the program. I also have strong social ties to the area which helps during this huge transition into the next step of my career.

Favorite activity in Tucson, or what attracted you to Tucson besides the residency program?

I've heard so much about the amazing food scene in Tucson and can't wait to try out all of the best spots!

What are your non-medical goals during residency?

Make friends, eat some good food, visit Mt. Lemmon as much as possible, play all the disc golf courses in the area, and learn Spanish.

Caleb Hardt, MD

What are your personal interests/hobbies?

I enjoy watching/playing basketball and tennis. I like some classic outdoor activities including camping, hiking, and fly-fishing. Around the house, I spend my time binging Netflix, doing the NYT crossword, and playing chess.

What are your professional interests?

I am still exploring the idea of fellowships, but I could see myself pursuing an Ultrasound or EMS fellowship. I would also like teaching to be a part of my career, whether it be medical students or residents.

Why did you choose UA EM?

The people! All the resident and faculty I met seemed like genuinely great people to be around, both inside and outside the hospital. I was also drawn by the opportunity to have a set percentage of my shifts be both at an academic hospital and a community hospital.

Not sure yet. I haven't had the chance to explore Tucson or the surrounding area, but I am excited to have sunshine year round and plan to spend a lot of time outside.

Also there are great opportunities for virtually every sub-specialty of EM, which makes a good fit for those of us interested in all the things.
