Dr. Charles Cairns, professor of emergency medicine and interim dean of the UA College of Medicine - Tucson, testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Communications “Strategic Perspectives on the Bioterrorism Threat.” The chair of the Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Communications Subcommittee on the Committee on Homeland Security is Martha McSally, R-Ariz.
The UA Department of Emergency Medicine will be live blogging and posting pictures of the ACEP conference taking place in Seattle from October 14-17. Arthur B. Sanders, MD, MHA, professor with the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson, has been elected to the prestigious Institute of Medicine of the National Academies.
Dr. Sanders also is a member of the Arizona Emergency Medicine Research Center and the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center.
Election to the IOM is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service.
