Dr. Sean Murphy Receives Resident Excellence and Leadership Scholarship

Congratulations to Sean Murphy, MD, PGY-II, Banner -- University Medical Center South Resident, who received the 2014 Resident Excellence and Leadership Scholarship awarded by the UA Office of Graduate Medical Education for his research “Validation of a PCR-based hookworm identification assay and submission of an FDA Investigational New Drug (IND) application for therapeutic administration of Necator americanus in controlled trials.”
Each year, the UA’s Office of Graduate Medical Education identifies residents who have a proven track record of excellence and have demonstrated potential in becoming future leaders in their chosen field. To further promote the careers of these physicians-in-training, the GME office sponsors the annual Resident Excellence and Leadership Scholarships. Funding may support the pursuit of an original research proposal (particularly if done in collaboration with a faculty mentor); participation at a national conference, leadership or advocacy training, or a unique elective experience.
