What are your personal interests/hobbies?
Spending time with family and friends, playing games, wine tasting, traveling, spa-ing (yes, we’ve determined it is a thing), scrapbooking, trying new restaurants, and spending time outside (not as intensely as my co-residents… I enjoy walking the dog, drinks on the patio, floating in the pool, playing yard games, outdoor music/margarita/salsa festivals)

Why did you choose UA EM?
My interview day had me hooked - beautiful weather, gorgeous mountains, fun and HAPPY residents and welcoming staff. Because of the longevity and reputation of the program, I knew I would be trained well. And, because of the people, I knew I would enjoy myself during the process!
Favorite activity in Tucson?
Having people over for dinner, games, and pool time!
What are your non-medical goals during residency?
Be an amazing wife no matter how tired or stressed I am, get to the gym, write/call home often, and start a family

Great program with high volume ED, trauma, and pathology. Residents are down to earth, and our attendings are approachable.

Work hard, play hard. Definite work/life balance.

Hanging out with my wife and my dog. We like to go on hikes, hang out in our pool, have friends over for wine or some craft beer and game nights. I enjoy following (and firmly believing I'm a part of) the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Why did you choose UA EM?
Solid program with a great reputation. Good Volume. Large alumni network. Most importantly when my wife and I decided to couples match we were welcomed with enthusiasm by the program director. We wanted a program that fit who we were and what we felt was most important in life, and UA EM offered that to us.
Favorite activity in Tucson?
Camping on Mt. Lemmon
What are your non-medical goals during residency?
Grow as a husband and a dog father. Enjoy life and everything it has given me.

Favorite activity in Tucson?
Hiking and camping on Mt Lemmon. It’s not in Tucson but nearby Tombstone is awesome.
What are your non-medical goals during residency?
My wife is an architect in town and our relationship is my top priority amidst the challenges of residency. I’ve found this program very supportive of residents and their families since I’ve been here. Despite the heavy hours and plenty of stress, the residents and attendings go the extra mile to make sure you get enough time out of the hospital to be happy.

Ultrasound, teaching, mentorship, resident wellness, difficult conversations and conflict resolution, ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic healthcare disparities.
Why did you choose UA EM?
Academic program, autonomy, snow on the Catalinas in the winter, best state in the Union.
Favorite activity in Tucson?
Trying new food (Tucson is a UNESCO World City of Gastronomy), cheering for ASU and Stanford when they play here, spending any time I can with my wife (even if it means coffee at the hospital).
What are your non-medical goals during residency?
Combined bench/squat/deadlift > 1200lbs. Smoke the perfect brisket.

My Tho, Vietnam. Moved to Phoenix, AZ when I was 2, then down to Tucson for medical school at 22.
What are your personal interests/hobbies?
Archery, Aikido, photography, poetry, piano, Hi-fi audio, electronics, video games, fantasy fiction, and recently, DIY projects around the house.

Emergency medicine, airway, ultrasound, toxicology
Why did you choose UA EM?
This program was my first choice! I went to medical school at U of A and it seemed natural to stay here. I had made my home in this town. I have a baby boy and we have some family and lots of support here. Professionally speaking, the world-renowned faculty offer a tremendous amount of value to this program due to their diverse backgrounds, interests, research, and doctoring styles.

Watching the sunset, beverage in one hand, camera in the other.

Biking down to Funky Brunch at la Cocina; swimming at Romero Pools, the view from Finger Rock; dinner at my parents’ house when the menu includes Mom’s schnitzel

What are your personal interests/hobbies?
Playing with my two kids whenever I’m not working. I like to run, trail running is my favorite, but lately running with my husband Miguel and our two kids in the stroller is pretty great!
What are your professional interests?
I want to be a great emergency medicine doctor.
Why did you choose UA EM?
Well respected program.Cost of living is great - with 2 kids and a husband in residency too, we needed things to be inexpensive. We wanted our family to be able to come and visit easily from either San Diego or from New Mexico.

Hiking on Mount Lemmon, splash parks with our kids.
What are your non-medical goals during residency?
Raise 2 kids who are happy, healthy and well adjusted.

-Hanging out with my hilarious kiddos and wonderful wife.
-Running, I prefer trails but I am mostly on the bike trails with our double stroller these days.
-Mountain and road biking, I love backpacking, rock climbing both at the gym here and outdoors when I can get out, etc.

-I finished a Peds residency prior to starting my EM residency
- Maybe a Interventional Radiology residency after this one…
- No, just kidding. Two residencies will be enough. In reality I would love to work 1/2 and 1/2 in a Peds and Adult ED.
Why did you choose UA EM?
- Well respected EM program which has a lot of contacts to getting jobs in the West.
- Strong program with good adult and peds training.
- About half way between my family and my wife's family.
- 9 hour shifts
- Low cost of living = high quality of life

- Raise two kids who are relatively normal despite what Linsey and I are doing to them!

I chose UA EM because it's a wonderful, supportive program with excellent faculty, I like the town, and the case mix is very instructive.
What's your ideal vacation?
My ideal vacation is a staycation.

My nonmedical goals are to get in better shape and brush up on my medical Spanish!

It was my number one choice. I have worked with a lot of their great graduates. There is amazing weather and things to do in Tucson. The faculty and other residents are great coworkers.

Hiking/camping with family. Love the breweries and restaurants. Biking anytime other than June-Aug.
