What are your personal interests/hobbies?
I consider myself a napping connoisseur. Also love to cook (eat), read long novels with big font so they seem like they're longer than they actually are, hike, run, and swim.
What are your professional interests?
Disaster & austere medicine, PEM, critical care.
Why did you choose UA EM?
In short, the people, the hospitals, and the training environment. Our faculty are all wonderful and go out of their way to teach, even when we're super busy. We are so supported by everyone here and you have time to learn in addition to focus on the care of your patients, and that is a game changer. Working at our home hospital in addition to the more county style hospital in town provides a breadth of exposure to different patient populations, and really rounds out our training/education.
Favorite activity in Tucson?
Catching the sunset from anywhere (the views here are breathtaking) as well as star-gazing. Hiking in December...in shorts. Can't forget trying new restaurants (we've got some of the best food I've ever had, and I came here from Chicago)!
What are your non-medical goals during residency?
Not to get bit by a snake, learn how to ride a bike, figure out how to make something with prickly pear in it (it looks so cool), become fluent in Spanish.

Where are you from?
Phoenix, Arizona
What are your personal interests/hobbies?
Hiking, reading, the great outdoors, and traveling around the world. Also, binge watching on Netflix and researching Game of Thrones fan theories.
What are your professional interests?
International medicine, sports medicine.
Why did you choose UA EM?
The fantastic people, both the co-residents and the attendings combined, and the fun city that is Tucson.
Favorite activity in Tucson?
Hiking and going out on 4th Ave or downtown. So many fun places to go in Tucson.
What are your non-medical goals during residency?
I'm hoping to brush up on my Spanish, and to focus on finishing some triathlons.

Where are you from?
Born in the Bay area, grew up in Tucson and spent the last few years in Philly.
What are your personal interests/hobbies?
I love to travel - I've been to 6 of the 7 continents and hope to be able to eventually say I have been to them all. Since med school limited my traveling ability, I picked up home brewing and am a huge fan of IPAs and pale ales. I also love most things outdoors and am glad to be back in a place where I can go out and explore. Snow is for skiing or snowboarding, not walking to work!
What are your professional interests?
I'm interested in International Medicine and disaster relief. I currently don’t know where I will be in my career in 10 years but we shall see where residency takes me.
Why did you choose UA EM?
Many reasons, the least of which is I wanted to come back home. I really like that UA offers the unique ability to work in both a county hospital and a big academic center. I think these types of experiences in residency are invaluable to exploring your future career goals.
Favorite activity in Tucson?
Nothing like enjoying an ice cold beer while watching an Arizona sunset. Trust me, I have seen many and nothing comes close. Also Mexican food on every corner-can it get any better?
What are your non-medical goals during residency?
I want to ride the Tour de Tucson again, make some crazy homebrew concoctions, and make great memories with new friends.

Melbourne (not Australia), Florida.
What are your personal interests/hobbies?
Triathlons, tennis, running, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing.
What are your professional interests?
Sports medicine and wilderness medicine (ultrasound and EMS are cool too).
Why did you choose UA EM?
Awesome people, excellent EM training, great work-life balance, lots of outdoor activities, amazing weather (most of the year), affordable housing, and minimal traffic.
Favorite activity in Tucson?
As a new Tucsonan, I'm fascinated with finding scorpions using black light.
What are your non-medical goals during residency?
Run another marathon, be a guest judge on America’s Got Talent and don't come into the ER as a patient.

My fiancée is in Arizona, and this is an awesome program with great pathology and even better faculty and co-residents.
What's your ideal vacation?
Beach and cold drinks.

Get Arizona casinos to allow for craps or make some more Vegas trips.

Where are you from?
Lomita, CA, but like Allen Iverson, I did a lot of growing up during my time in Philadelphia.
What are your personal interests/hobbies?
Currently some of my interests include Sk8-His, making pies and camping vibes.

Haven’t figured this one out yet.
Why did you choose UA EM?
It is THE goldilocks program--everything is just right.
Favorite activity in Tucson?
Depends on the season but when it’s hot, like hide your kids, hide your wife hot, nothing is better than swimming in other people’s pools.
What are your non-medical goals during residency?
Grow some cool desert plants.

Where are you from?
I was born in California, then grew up in Hilo, Hawaii and Vancouver, Washington.
What are your personal interests/hobbies?
My goal in life is to be at least mediocre at as many things as possible. I like climbing, hiking, kayaking, rafting, surfing, mountain biking, traveling, trying to grow peppers in my backyard, and becoming a connoisseur of fruit snacks.
What are your professional interests?
Right now I’m drawn to wilderness medicine, medical education, global health, and ultrasound.
Why did you choose UA EM?
What an awesome program! The people are incredible. We get to work at both an academic level 1 trauma center and a county-style hospital. There is a ton of great outdoors around Tucson. And the desert Southwest is a whole new region for me to explore.
Favorite activity in Tucson?
Mountain biking and climbing on Mt. Lemmon, wandering in the desert and thinking about how every plant looks like it's from a Dr. Seuss book.
What are your non-medical goals during residency?
1) Mountain bike the entire Lemmon Drop trail without breaking anything 2) Identify every gecko and desert plant in my backyard 3) Buy a pair of cowboy boots and learn to two-step like a boss in a Tucson country bar!

What are your personal interests/hobbies?
Power tools and power wheels; I enjoy home renovation and chasing my son. When not in Tucson, I try to get some fish into a power boat.
What are your professional interests?
I love learning about toxicology, but I dream of a residency program being established in my home state so I could be involved in resident education and still be close to family.
Why did you choose UA EM?
It has everything I wanted and didn’t know I wanted in a residency program. Mix of academic and community experience, supportive administration, high caliber faculty with highly specialized knowledge base. And Tucson! What an incredible place!
Favorite activity in Tucson?
So far, swimming, but I’ve only been here in the summer. Also, the Desert Museum is a must-see.

Visit Mexico.

Hanging out with my wife and friends, grabbing a drink or food or doing something outside. I enjoy being active and having fun.

Why did you choose UA EM?
When I rotated through, everyone made me feel at home right away. And anytime I had talked with people in charge of hiring EM physicians they said graduates from UA are on everyone’s radar. I felt that by coming here I would get the best training, and would leave here with limitless options of where to go.
Favorite activity in Tucson?
Going up to Mount Lemmon - I come from some of the flattest parts of the country and enjoy the mountains.
What are your non-medical goals during residency?
Making life-long friends and having a lot of fun while here. Work is a lot better when everyone has fun together out of the department as well.

Grilling out (year-round), beer in hand, checking out that AZ sunset. Plus hiking, of course.

Get back into mountain biking and explore the area.

Most recently Texas (San Antonio), but I lived in several different places growing up.
What are your personal interests/hobbies?
Cooking/baking, running, hiking, crossfit, hanging out with my dog (Gypsy), Fightn’ Texas Aggie Football, and board games.

Critical care and ultrasound.

I did one of my aways here and really liked the people, the program and the lifestyle outside of the hospital.

Amazing faculty invested in teaching. Every fellowship option you can imagine. Great reputation. 2 major sites for practice, 10 minutes apart, with a world of difference in between. A unique population you won’t see anywhere else. My cat loves it here. Why go anywhere else?
Favorite activity in Tucson?
Cresting Gates Pass during sunset, catching a show at the Rialto Theater, exploring nearby mining towns, taking the scenic highways, grabbing a late night Sonoran hot dog, catching a movie at The Loft Cinema, people watching at Black Crown Coffee.
