UA College of Medicine at South Campus Residency

WELCOME LETTER FROM OUR PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Dear Applicant,

We would like to welcome you as a prospective resident and student of the University of Arizona College of Medicine South Campus Residency Program!

The faculty group is pleased to have you explore our website as part of your emergency medicine career planning.  We are confident that you will discover UAMC-South Campus Hospital provides a unique experience in emergency medicine with plenty of opportunities for you to expand your educational horizons. Our very first class started July 2010. Please see their pictures at Our Residents.

Why would you want to be a resident here?

As a resident in the Southwest you will be immersed in a multi-cultural experience unlike any other as we treat a high volume of patients from the Hispanic and Native American cultures. Our unique curriculum focuses on underserved communities, rural and inner-city populations, border health issues, international medicine, and even includes a Spanish language and culture immersion. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work with acute psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse in our emergency behavioral health unit.

Our faculty are nationally recognized University of Arizona physicians and include experts in Toxicology, Sports Medicine, EMS, Education, Research, Critical Care, Global Health, Ultrasound, Simulation and Disaster Preparedness. We have a strong commitment to resident education with a unique university atmosphere in a community hospital setting.

New Horizons

This is an exciting time of growth at UAMC-South Campus Hospital as we build for the future. In a constant effort to treat the underserved in Tucson, we completed our new state-of-the-art emergency department in August of 2011. We now have over 50 patient beds as we continue to provide a high level of service to the ever-expanding south side of Tucson. Additionally, we are proud to have become a Level 3 Trauma Center as we continue to grow to meet the needs of our patient population.

Again, welcome! If you are interested in our Emergency Medicine residency program based here at UAMC-South Campus Hospital, please contact us at emresidency@uahealth.com or submit your application via ERAS to set up your interview today!
