Arthur B. Sanders, MD, MHA, professor with the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson, has been elected to the prestigious Institute of Medicine of the National Academies.
Dr. Sanders also is a member of the Arizona Emergency Medicine Research Center and the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center.
Election to the IOM is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service.
The project aims to train artificial intelligence to identify signs of pulmonary embolism from bedside cardiac ultrasound scans, with the goal of providing real-time assistance to health care providers.
