Where are you from?

Hudson, Ohio (South of Cleveland)

What are your personal interests/hobbies?

So many! Backpacking, hiking, biking -gravel/road, mycology, birding, gardening (we’ll see how that goes), cooking, fermentation, and baking.

What are your professional interests?

Administration/Operations, Wilderness medicine, reducing corporate influence in medicine.

Why did you choose UA EM?

So many reasons! I loved the residents during our virtual interview day, which was a great start. My conversations with Dr. Stoneking were wonderful.  The opportunities to participate in tracks to focus my learning held a lot of appeal, and the chance to gain experience with medical Spanish will serve me well later on. I knew I wanted to be able to experience multiple clinical settings during residency, which in my opinion is one of the strongest aspects of our residency. The dual resources of both the university and Banner should make it possible to pursue all of my goals during residency - especially the ones I haven’t thought of yet!

Favorite activity in Tucson, or what attracted you to Tucson besides the residency program?

The proximity of mountains in Tucson is better than that of Cleveland, Ohio:) I love the opportunities to: bike most of the year; explore new ecosystems; improve my climbing; enjoy the incredible food scene; see the sun more than half the year; live in a reasonably-priced city.

What are your non-medical goals during residency?

Gain mild-moderate proficiency in Spanish, make new best friends, keep my previous best friends now that we live far apart, maintain moderate-high physical and mental health, see beautiful things in nature!
