Where are you from?

San Diego, CA

What are your personal interests/hobbies?

Contrary to popular opinion, not everyone from San Diego is a great surfer. I do, however, love to play beach (or indoor) volleyball when I have time. I also really enjoy hiking and exploring new areas and would consider myself a little bit of a craft beer snob. Country music is my jam, so don't be surprised to find me at a country concert from time to time.

What are your professional interests?

Sports Medicine and EM Ultrasound

Why did you choose UA EM?

Having spent the last 8 years in Baltimore, it was time to make my way back west. During the interview circuit, I felt that all the faculty I met truly cared about the residents’ growth and well-being. Additionally, the ED at UA sees a large underserved patient population at both county and academic sites, and the residents all seem to have fun together and get along super well.

What's your ideal vacation?

My ideal vacation is anywhere with close friends. Whether it’s exploring a new country where I don’t speak the language or sitting on the beach with a cold one, it’s the people who really make the vacation.

What are your non-medical goals during residency?

When I have time outside the hospital, I’d love to go explore all the amazing hiking around Arizona, learn how to really rock climb, and learn how to make a California burrito from scratch (tortilla, carne asada, salsa verde, guac, pico, etc). I’d also love to give brewing my own beer a shot and try not to poison anyone in the process. Lastly, I’m hoping to get more into road biking.
