Where are you from?

Born in Tucson, AZ but my family calls Montana home these days.

What are your personal interests/hobbies?

Mountain Biking, Fly Fishing, Rock Climbing, Hiking, Camping, Backpacking, Skiing, Golf, SUP, Yoga/Meditation, Trail Running, Triathlons, Traveling, Adventuring with my dog Murphy, pretty much any sport, and of course craft brews and buddies. :)

What are your professional interests?

Austere Medicine, EMS/Disaster Medicine, Global Health, Underserved Populations.

Why did you choose UA EM?

The people! Faculty and residents alike are not only badass, and widely recognized as exceptional ER docs, but they are hands down the friendliest, most welcoming, outgoing, and adventurous crew.

Many residencies boast a tight-knit group environment, however, at South Campus, the Faculty and Residents wholeheartedly are a family. Dr. Stoneking is one of the most incredible people I've ever met. She goes above and beyond for her residents, not only to ensure we receive excellent, well-rounded training but that we are also supported 100% in being healthy, happy, whole individuals.

Aside from the amazing people of the program, our truly diverse patient population and exposure to greatly varied disease pathology/trauma are phenomenal. We are incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to care for patients and train at an academic hospital (with great pediatric exposure), community hospital, rural and border settings, AND have access to global health opportunities.

Favorite activity in Tucson, or what attracted you to Tucson besides the residency program?

Location really can't be stressed enough. Tucson is awesome. At first glance, just a desert? Oh no, no. If you are an outdoors enthusiast this place is heaven. We are surrounded by huge mountains with epic rock climbing, mountain biking, trail running, hiking, camping areas. Head a few hours south to the beach in Mexico, or north to actually really good skiing. The combo of rich Southwestern culture along with great college town vibes, sporting events, bars, craft breweries, and restaurants is hard to beat.

What are your non-medical goals during residency?

Have fun, play outside, make lots of new buddies and go adventuring, try to get good at golf, mountain bike races, maybe another triathlon.
