Resident Research Presented at the Annual Department of Emergency Medicine Research Forum April 26

May 10, 2017

Highlights include Bentley Bobrow, MD, as keynote speaker, and Jessica Bates, MD, PGY-V, who received the 2017 Maria C. Mandell Emergency Medicine Award for best research presentation.

UA Emergency Medicine residents presented 12 research projects at the UA Department of Emergency Medicine Resident Research Forum April 26. Each year, EM residents give oral presentations followed by a question and answer period on research projects they have worked on as part of the department’s ScholarQuest program.

ScholarQuest provides research training and experience to EM residents, who team up with EM faculty and research staff to develop research projects, submit abstracts to national meetings, and present their work to a panel of local faculty judges at the annual forum.

Bentley Bobrow, MD, UA distinguished professor and associate director of the University of Arizona Emergency Medicine Research Center (AEMRC) Phoenix, delivered the keynote address, "Emergency Medicine Research: Why Should You Care?"

Mandell Memorial Emergency Medicine Award for best presentation was given to Jessica Bates, MD, PGY-V, South Campus Residency Program, for her research on “Patient Satisfaction Using Real-Time Feedback in the ED.” Her faculty mentors were Matt Berkman, MD, Vivienne Ng, MD, MPH, and Lisa Stoneking, MD.
