Welcome to DEM New Faculty for 2013-2014

The Department of Emergency Medicine is pleased to welcome our new faculty and fellows for the academic year 2013-2014. Our faculty provide adult and pediatric emergent services for over 100,000 visits per year at the University and South campuses of The University of Arizona Medical Center.


How 100 Degrees Does a Number on You

The heat wave of 2013 continues. This week it's coming to the East Coast, where temperatures are expected to soar into the mid-to-high 90s (degrees Farenheit). And there's no relief at night: Lows are expected to hover in the low 80s. The West will see temperatures in the 90s.

The winners of the 2022 Faculty Awards were honored at the May 19 General Faculty Meeting.


New Snake Antivenom Approved

With the approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on May 6 of a new antivenom to treat rattlesnake bites, the two poison control centers in Arizona are on track to begin research into the best utilization of snakebite medicines.
