    • UA Healthcare Board meeting this week to vote on interim CEO (who will be in place for at least a year)

Financial updates (Borgeson, Kellen)

  • UMC and UPH both exceeded target for gross charges and net collections in FY11
  • PowerPoint on coding and documentation pearls presented by Kelly Kellen  (see attached)

Budget updates (Borgeson, Hollenbeck)

  • UA Healthcare signed off on incentives and now waiting for the Dean‚Äôs approval
  • The budget has no clinical practice support so hospital approving a negative bottom line
    • This will have no negative impact on faculty salaries, incentives bonuses or Fund B
  • Both hospitals have approved a total of 14.5 FTE
    •  UPH- 3.5 FTE for ED fast track
      Another 3.5 FTE IF Urgent Care off-site 
  • UMC- back stop 3.5 FTE
    Approved 4 FTE to expand coverage
  • Renovating video conference room in building C

Academic Affairs report (Keim)

  • Clerkship

    • UMC- resident paired and presents to senior
    • UPH- resident presents to 2nd or 3rd year resident
    • 5 Core Medical Student Teaching Faculty (CMSTF)
      • If anyone wants to teach or has suggestions then let Kathy Hiller know
  • UMC Residents

    • Pharmacy not filling prescriptions written by interns because they do not have an NPI. Best if faculty writes prescriptions until interns receive their NPI.
    • Email hijacking has gotten worse and needs to be stopped as not professional

Clinical Affairs report (Guisto, Shirazi)

  • UPH Clinical

    • Working on getting Emergisoft software more user friendly
    • Goal: for residents to finish charting while working. Best if they sit after each patient and document.
    • Move Day August 17th for ED and August 18 for Urgent Care to Fast Track
      • Extra attendings (Mazda Shirazi and Matt Berkman) and 25 beds open.
      • Shirazi and Berkman will see patients in the old facility and new faculty will see patients in new ED.
  • UMC Clinical

    • Josh Appel is a new physician director
    • New faculty- temporary privileges had been signed off
    • Sunrise Clinical Manager Program ‚Äì Will be down for upgrade to version 5.5 from July 13 9am to July 14 5pm
    • Spring 2012 Schedule ‚Äì will go a few weeks in July FY 12-13

Research Division report (Stolz)

  • 3 grants have been submitted (Flu vaccines improving)
    • PI‚Äôs are: Kathy Hiller; Dan Spaite and Bentley Bobrow; Lisa Stoneking
