Why you should consider an EM Residency Program at the University of Arizona
The Department directs three superb EM residency programs, multiple medical student courses and several fellowship and faculty development programs. Teaching excellence is at the very heart of our departmental mission.
Our faculty are nationally and internationally known for extraordinary teaching performance and innovation. They serve as teaching attendings for the residents of our three residencies and the medical students of The University of Arizona. Examples of innovative learning devices include an integrated research curriculum (ScholarQuest), superb medical literature search informatics (EBM Search), direct bedside observation evaluation of competency development, Simulation Medicine (ASTEC center and bedside real-time).
Our residents have exceptional experiences in critical care medicine and trauma, emergency ultrasound, deep procedural sedation and videolaryngoscopy-assisted intubation. Fellowship opportunities are available in Research, Sports Medicine, Medical Toxicology, Ultrasound, EMS, and Critical Care. We are very proud of the over 200 ABEM board-certified leaders in Emergency Medicine who are alumni of our programs.
We are committed to making a profound impact on the specialty we love.
As a student or resident in the southwest, you will be immersed in a multicultural experience unlike any other, as we treat a high volume of patients from the Hispanic and Native American cultures.
