Where are you from?

Wenatchee, Washington

What are your personal interests/hobbies?

Like a lot of us in the EM world, I enjoy getting outside on my bicycle and playing in the snow, particularly when there is a bakery treat or cup of coffee at the endpoint. I’m also an unapologetic country music fan, and never say no to an ambitious cooking project with friends.

What are your professional interests?

Addiction Medicine, Palliative Care, Medical Education.

Why did you choose UA EM?

So many reasons- I was really drawn to the hybrid community/academic model and was so impressed with the leadership on interview day. It’s also a personal and professional goal of mine to be comfortable speaking Spanish with patients, so longitudinal language curriculum was a huge draw. The welcoming, cohesive group of residents really made me feel at home here.

Favorite activity in Tucson, or what attracted you to Tucson besides the residency program?

My significant other is from Tucson, so I was early convert to the beauty of this desert. There is a lot to love about 350 days of sunshine, endless trails to explore and the magic of a monsoon. Maybe it’s the Sonoran sunset talking, but I’m convinced that the margaritas here are some of the best in the world.

What are your non-medical goals during residency?

Ski Mount Lemmon! But in all seriousness, I’m committed to speaking more Spanish, learning to grow a desert garden and spending some time at the pottery wheel.
