UA Emergency Medicine Participate in EM Day of Service

September 10, 2015

UA Emergency Medicine faculty and residents at the Wings for Women Gala in  August.

UA Department of Emergency Medicine faculty and residents are joining the national philanthropic campaign, the EM Day of Service, sponsored by the Emergency Medicine Residents Association (EMRA). Throughout the month, they will be collecting food and hygiene products and hosting a bake sale for their chosen charity, Wings for Women’s “No Hungry Kids Tucson.”

The EM Day of Service provides an opportunity for emergency medicine providers to give back to the communities they serve. Wings for Women’s mission is to provide a safe and positive environment to homeless and impoverished women and their children. They offer education, job training and skill-building opportunities for women to help them become self-sufficient. The No Hungry Kids Tucson project provides food and hygiene products to women and children in need.

UA Department of Emergency Medicine service activities planned so far:

  • Collection boxes for food and hygiene products are in the emergency department and nurse break rooms at Banner - UMC Tucson and Banner - UMC South campuses.
  • Bake sale Friday, Sept. 18, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the College of Medicine lobby.
