Aaron N. Leetch, MD, assistant professor of emergency medicine and director of the Combined Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program, has been awarded the 2017 UA College of Medicine Virginia and Vernon Furrow Award for Innovation in Medical Education. Dr. Leetch received the award for his development of the podcast AZEMCast, an educational emergency medicine podcast that started out as a project for University of Arizona emergency medicine residents, but now has an international following. The podcast is available through iTunes as well as Podbean (http://azemcast.podbean.com).

The UA College of Medicine awards recognize outstanding achievement and excellence in teaching. These teachers demonstrate dedication to the education of medical students and create an encouraging and intellectually stimulating environment that promotes critical thinking and learning. The Furrow Awards are the College’s primary system for peer recognition of excellence in education and are presented by the College’s Academy of Medical Education Scholars (AMES).
