Where are you from?

Olympia, Washington – arguably the biggest hippy town in America.

What are your personal interests/hobbies?

Mountain biking, skiing, soccer, volleyball, backpacking. Pretty much anything that gets me outdoors. I love to travel and get the travel bug frequently.

What are your professional interests?

Wilderness medicine and global health. I rotated in Zimbabwe and Uganda during medical school.

Why did you choose UA EM?

Honestly it was the people. I knew Tucson would be great for my quality of life and training: good food, great wilderness, incredible beer, and top notch residency program. But the people just blew me away. As soon as I sat down with the residents I knew they were my people.

What's your ideal vacation?

Hut to hut mountain biking trip through the French and Swiss Alps. Nothing but some protein bars and water on your back, incredible single track, and with beers and brats waiting for you at the end of the trail.

What are your non-medical goals during residency?

Learn how to keep bees, re-discover rock climbing, mountain bike as much as possible, and enjoy time with close friends and family in the time in-between.
