Where are you from?

I was born and grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, went to college in Ann Arbor, MI, then went back to Indiana for medical school in Indianapolis. I am a lifelong Indiana University basketball fan, and 10+ years University of Michigan football fan. GO BLUE!

What are your personal interests/hobbies?

I love to read when I have the time. I also love spending time with my family and being outdoors as much as possible. We like to go to Reid Park Zoo, Mount Lemmon, and the Desert Museum. Baking is fun too, and everyone reaps the benefits!

What are your professional interests?

Being an EM & Peds resident, I have an interest in Pediatrics :) Specifically, I have an interest in working with the Child Advocacy Center and doing research in identification and prevention of child abuse.

Why did you choose UA EM?

One of the few combined EM & Peds programs in the country, I fell in love with Tucson, AZ, its people, and the program when I rotated here during medical school. I wanted a program with solid pediatrics and emergency medicine training. I really like the “county hospital” feel of South Campus and the tertiary care center university experience at our main campus; we have it all!

Favorite activity in Tucson?

Hiking on Mount Lemmon.

What are your non-medical goals during residency?

Explore the southwest and the beauty of Arizona, spend quality time with my daughter and husband, and learn how to decorate a cake (you should see my daughter’s 1st birthday cake, an absolute disaster!).
