UA Medical Simulation Fellow Dr. Kate Hughes Receives National Award for Outstanding Resident of the Year

The Outstanding Resident of the Year award recognizes the best and brightest Doctor of Osteopathy residents in postdoctoral training programs across the nation. Award recipients show a unique combination of clinical promise, leadership, dedication and commitment to osteopathic patient-centered care that sets them apart from their peers. Many go on to become national and world leaders in health care or research.

Dr. Hughes received the award during the prestigious Honors Gala 2017, the AOF's annual fundraising event, Oct. 6 in Philadelphia.

Dr. Hughes graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in May 2013 and completed the dually accredited Michigan State University Emergency Medicine

Residency in June 2017, where she was chief resident. Throughout her residency, Dr. Hughes was dedicated to education, research and community service.  

The UA Department of Emergency Medicine Medical Simulation Fellowship program provides graduates of emergency medicine residency programs the training to become future leaders in medical simulation and education.
