Two New Faculty Join Emergency Medicine

Ramesh Karra, MD

Ramesh Karra, MD, joins the department as clinical assistant professor. He earned his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, New Jersey, and completed residency training at the UA in family medicine in 2001 and emergency medicine in 2014. He also completed a faculty development fellowship in the Department of Family Medicine in 2006. Board certified in both emergency medicine and family medicine, he comes to the UA from practicing privately at Tucson Medical Center and St. Mary’s Hospital. He also served as staff physician in rural areas of Arizona with the Indian Health Service, including Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation and Hopi Health Care Center. Dr. Karra is a volunteer physician at Clinica Amistad, Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project, and Commitment to Underserved Populations (CUP) Clinic. He will practice at both Banner – UMC Tucson and South. He is interested in resource utilization, low-cost technologies, and optimizing the interface between the ED and primary care.

 

 

Keith Primeau, MD, MPH, has joined the department as clinical assistant professor. He is an alumnus of the UA, where he received his bachelor’s degree (2007), medical degree (2013) and most recently residency training (2016). Dr. Primeau received his master of public health degree in Epidemiology – International Health Distinction from the University of Michigan School of Public Health in Ann Arbor in 2009. He will practice at both Banner – UMC Tucson and South. His interests include medical education, comic relief, and developing strong clinical skills in residents and medical students.
