AEMRC Researchers Receive NAEMSP Best Presentation Award

AEMRC researchers received the Best Scientific Presentation Award at the January 2016 National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) Annual Scientific Meeting in San Diego for their Excellence in Prehospital Injury Care (EPIC) study:  Spaite DW, Hu C, Bobrow BJ, Chikani V, Sherrill D, Barnhart B, Gaither JB, Denninghoff KR, Viscusi C, Mullins T, Adelson PD: “Comparison of the Performance of Prehospital Systolic Blood Pressure Versus Calculated Mean Arterial Pressure in Predicting Mortality in Major Traumatic Brain Injury.”

EPIC is a public health initiative that is a partnership between the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS), the AEMRC, and more than 120 Arizona EMS agencies. The program is implementing and evaluating the EMS traumatic brain injury treatment guidelines throughout the state. The evaluation of the impact of the TBI guidelines is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
