Clinical Services

The Department of Emergency Medicine faculty provide adult and pediatric emergent and urgent care services for over 100,000 visits per year at two sites in Tucson, Arizona.

Both sites are part of the Banner - University Medicine Division, Arizona's first academic medical network.  Banner - University Medicine partners with the University of Arizona College of Medicine to conduct life-changing research and to educate new physicians who will become the medical leaders of tomorrow.

BUMCT is a center of excellence for tertiary care throughout Southern Arizona, staffed by a multispecialty group of over 400 faculty physicians who are highly trained specialists in areas such as:

  • Pre-hospital care
  • Brain injury and stroke
  • Cardiovascular care with a 24/7 cardiac catheterization lab
  • Pediatric care at the Diamond Children's Hospital

Both clinical sites feature teaching and research activity:

  • 80 residents in three programs provide clinical care at both sites, including two emergency medicine programs and one combined pediatric/emergency medicine program;
  • Research faculty from the Arizona Emergency Medicine Research Center (AEMRC) are directing clinical trials in pre-hospital and neurologic emergency services at sites throughout Southern Arizona.

Emergency Medicine faculty also provide medical direction for the Tucson Fire Department, paramedics, emergency management services, and staff sports medicine and toxicology clinics at the South Campus.
